I have shot some great Bridal campaigns over the years and Bridal shots from them were featured in major wedding publications across the world, including a darker more atmospheric setting to compliment the drama in one dress." The Bride Wore Black " .Also some creative editorial shoots for Bridal Magazines in the UK which featured vintage styling
I have often been asked by magazines to create shoots with a British theme . Searching through some vintage things of mine, I came across a 1953 Coronation biscuit tin with faded charm, and decided to give the shoot that feel.
It was shot entirely on location in a North London carpark . and with careful use of photoshop I achieved the final result. The models Jerry and James are actor /dancers and brought great spirit to the project .Makeup and hair was created by Lauren Newman
English brands were the order of the day, and we featured many including Henry Poole, Hackett and Dunn & Co vintage pieces.
This editorial was inspired by the great sci fi movies of the 1950/60's such as "ATTACK OF THE 50FT WOMAN ". The locations were shot first across London one slow saturday afternoon in summer, and near the end of the shoot, I was approached by quite a few member of the MET who had been tracking this lone figure shooting pics of high buldings, to ask the nature of my business...Luckily it all ended well and I gave them a credit for not deleting the card..The shoot was well received and published in several Archant Magazines and became a template for later advertising shoots, albeit with less drama....
A Black and White Film/ Fashion shoot for late summer inspired by Hitchcock Heroines...Tippi Hedren, Eve Marie Saint, " Would you Dance with a Stranger on a Night made for Love ? "..... .Shot on location at a mysterious Cocktail bar in Fitzrovia London, Hair and makeup Lauren Newman.Models from Nevs London
I have worked on many major projects for Regent St, London. A world famous thoroughfare, now one of the premier shopping destinations. Major fashion shows as director/producer , web advertising shoots , and numerous press events which were often created at dawn and lasted only till the perfect shot was found. Fashion shows for Magnum Ice Cream, Also a small snap of the first big traffic stopping event, a long sandy beach complete with palm trees that appeared one morning at 7.00am and vanished. by 10.00am
Trying to capture the essence of someone in a few clicks has always been a fascination to me, here are a selection of portraits, including Great women entrepreneurs Polar Explorers, Actors, Royalty and modern men and women about town .
When I first started taking photographs,I shot a guy as an angel and took it to the Portfolio Gallery in Notting Hill . It became my first published work , printed as a postcard. Both sexy and hopefully a little ironic .Since then It has become a tradition to take a similar photo and make some Christmas cards to send out .I usually take a snap of someone I've worked with during the year and photoshop the image, to say something about how I’m feeling I guess. Here are some of them , also a Narcissus ,another early image but not sent out.
An editorial shot through with northern grit , mixing classic TWEED, FAIR ISLE KNITS wool and some 1920's WETHERBY vibe. Actually shot in romantic North London.
There is always a need for classic bridal advertising and i have liked to be innovative where possible, using groups of girls in shoots to show the atmosphere as well as the dress , as brides often want to know how they will feel wearing their outfits as well as how they will look !
I have often shot Pr campaigns for brands or areas of London that were used for press launches or immediate PR .Here are some examples: A shoot with the actor David Frampton for Jermyn Street to celebrate Ian Fleming and his connection to the area, and another for a press launch for the luxury brand Italian Pal Zileri Ceremonia.
Campaign photos for Jermyn St Design, one of the UK's leading workwear designers & suppliers, shot over two days on location in the Cotswolds and London. Outfits for Titan Airways ,Gucci Beauty, Ascot Race Course ,Historic Royal Palaces ,Ocado, Holiday Inn, Guinness World Records and Taj Hotels. Models from Nevs London.
It's great to be asked to take theatre portraits, and I have worked on the advertising for some classic West End productions. Including " Design For Living" with Rachel Weisz, through Britten Operas at the ENO and more recently A Woman of No Importance . Here are some pics including Eve Best , Eleanor Bron ,Marc Warren , James Dreyfus ,Maureen Lipman and Dominic Rowan
I am very lucky to have worked on numerous projects for Carnaby St and its environs for over 10 years. Working with SISTERLONDON a company representing one of the most famous shopping destinations on the planet.
From Major advertising campaigns that become full Bus backs, to the Art project "Carnaby Kiss " that became a phenomenon and toured as an exhibition to Sweden,, It's been a great chance to experiment and meet demands on styling and photographic projects for press.
Throughout 2015, I worked with GWR on their rebranding project , orginally First Great Western, they have returned to their historic name Great Western Railway. We did shoots to introduce the new uniforms to their staff , and also portraits to introduce members to each other. It was great working with them and seeing the brand transform.
